Still Life presents an abstraction of traditional flower and object arrangement. A search for flowers with irregular forms led to a curiosity in Japanese ikebana, and the sensorality that could be achieved through an adherence to a strict set of rules. Ideas of hierarchy, duplicity, and coherence are seen to guide arrangements. The resulting photographs are disparate yet satisfying compositions that encourage an appreciation of both the ordinary and the beautiful.
Still Life was shown at 768 Brunswick Street from September 7- 11 2018.
